The Mr. K Edits

photo:
a propos:
Danny Krivit returns to the vinyl source with two killer edits for Paul Raffaele's Most Excellent Unltd. Label. He kicks off with a Cymande version that's been lurking in his crates for well over a decade. Taking the iconic bassline and stretching the Dickens out of it, it's a kindly reminder of how well Danny understands groove dynamics. Absolutely perfect for teasing a crowd before dropping the classic original. Flip for a shake-up of Niagara's "Sangondongo". A dedication to the drums whipped up with shamanic feels, say hello to your brand new favourite secret mixing weapon.

Chicago Service

photo:
a propos:
REPRESSHere's the pitch: ask six of Chicago's finest exponents of bumping house and pitched down disco cuts to contribute some of their finest works, blend them all together and present in the appropriate space either side of two 12" slabs. What's the end product? The rather hot looking Chicago Service from the Amsterdam label Lumberjacks in Hell which features a merry cast of the city's finest in Gene Hunt, Rahaan, Jamie 3:26, Cratebug, Hugo H and Boogie Nite across two hot plates.

Halal Prepared Vol 4

photo:
a propos:
The revered Halal Prepared series on boe extends to its fourth volume with four new acts fresh to the label. Hotly tipped duo, Invisible Menders, made up of outstanding DJ Jane Fitz and thus far underrated producer Dom Ahtuam contribute a stunning Balearic bass-heavy house cut "Fifth Time Lucky". Fresh from his solo EP, John Shima slots in a deep techno workout "Thought Wave". Toby Tobias of Rekids fame pumps out some raw basement lofi vibes with his jacker "Sword Art Arcade" and rounding off the EP on a delicate note is Tim Smith's soft and melodic 707 jam "Graphene".

Cockring D'Amore 001

photo:
a propos:
As Benedikt Rugar's superbly illustrated cover art for the recent CockTail D'Amore compilation Nothing Matters When We're Dancing proved, the Berlin collective proudly celebrate their status as a forum for Berlin's gay community to fully express themselves. With no releases on the label since that compilation arrived in January, Discodromo and DJ Boris have now unveiled a sister operation with a focus on edits under the wonderful name CockRing D'Amore. The debut release features contributions from label regular Massimiliano Pagliara, the unheralded Trent and founders Discodromo.

Kouté Jazz

photo:
a propos:

Disco Galaxie

photo:
a propos:
Whiskey Disco has put together something of an all-star cast for their latest excursion, with the mighty Jacques Renault - whose debut album drops soon on Let's Play House - and dusty-fingered scalpel fiend Kon amongst the contributors. The latter's "Promised Land" re-edit is a swirling chunk of rising disco bliss, with dreamy female vocals and twittering flutes riding an undeniably heavy - if deliciously loose - disco-funk groove. The lesser-known Love Dance impresses, too, with the Philly style heaviness, cut-glass strings, hustling grooves and impassioned vocals of "Who Is He". It's Renault who steals the show, too, dropping the delightfully camp, intergalactic dancefloor madness of "Disco Galaxie" - all starry synths, clavinet-laden grooves and madcap vocals.

No Funk,No Chop

photo:
a propos:
Yellow Marbled Vinyl 12" Holy Guacamole! African Road Trip takes the bus via West Africa, Paris and Chicago via Guadeloupe. No Funk No Chop is our vinyl only series of dancefloor killers we picked up whilst "on de road". Robert Helms is probably the most requested bomb from Stevie Kotey DJ sets. Blowing people minds on the Adriatic dance floors of Electric Elephant 2014. The secret weapons can no longer remain a secret. Loving rearranged by the super talented Raphael Top Secret, by way of his Brussels emporium. "Wanna see you dance"? Enough said! Albion steps up with the in demand Experience 7 smasher "Disco Choc" feel the vibes wash over you as you take another sip of that cocktail. Last stop is Afro National "Push Am Forward" Forward we go with the mysterious Afro National straight out of Sierra Leone. This track is epitome of joyous afro funk. Don't let ride end!!
