Reissue fully licensed by Alhaji Kwame Frimpong Family.A classic and essential Hi-Life & Afro Funk album from one of the greatest Ghanaian singer and composer, reissued for the first time! The legendary K Fimpong's fantastic rare album was recorded in 1978 at Ghana Films Studio in Accra.K. Frimpong was born on July 22nd, 1939 at Ofoase in the Ashanti - Akim district and entered right into music after elementary school by joining Star de Republic and later Oko's Band after which he left to K. Gyasy's band where he worked for more than 6 years. As a prolific songwriter and singer, here's the reissue of his amazing album, a modern fusion of Hi- life and Soul. The excellent background is given by the famous Vis à Vis band, composed with the help of the great Collins Obiba Marfo.Originally produced on Ofo Bros the label of the Ofori brothers in Kumasi, this four songs recording is a blend of dancable and spiritual Soul and straight Hi-life. A must have vinyl of percussive Afro Funk for all the music connoisseurs, K. Frimpong backed by Vis à Vis LP is a true masterpiece, so hard to find and reaching crazy skills for a decent copy affordable.Remastered by Frank Merritt at The Carvery. Pressed on Replika format.

Created in 2006, SETENTA, the Latin Soul Band from Paris, spreads a unique mix over the world scene.After sparkling debuts with their first albums Funky Tumbao (Hot Casa Records 2010), Latin Piece Of Soul (Hot Casa Records 2013), Paris to Nueva York (Latin Big Note 2016), following successful live experiences and strong links developed with New York and Joe BATAAN, the Latin soul legend, the French seven-piece combo is back with his modern definition of Latin music.Composed and arranged collectively, this new opus mixes up Latin, Funk, Pop and Jazz, with the same percussive and strong vocal section, sung in Spanish, English, Creole and Yoruba, (cf. their arrangement of the traditionnal Rezo a Obatala). EIGHTIES LADIES: This vocal ensemble comprised Denie Corbett, Marva Hicks, Susan Beaubian, Sylvia Striplin and Vivian Prince. In 1979 Denie had recorded a disco solo single “What You Won’t Do For Love” and was featured lead with group Station Break on another disco release “Be What You Are. Marva Hicks had recorded a debut solo single “Looking Over My Shoulder” in 1978 and would later infiltrate the modern soul world with “One Good Reason” from her 1991 self titled debut and only solo album. Vivian Prince recorded a boogie track “Gotta Get A Hold On You” in 1982 and of course Sylvia recorded a solo project “Give Me Your Love” (also reissued by Expansion) for Uno Melodic. In 2009 they produced the first volume of the ground-breaking Hi-Hat Club series that kicked off the careers of beatmakers like Suff Daddy, Dexter and Brenk Sinatra. 10 years later Hulk Hodn and Twit One have recorded a second Testiculo Y Uno album called “Two”.The LP comes in a special punch-cover with printed inner sleeve.

Ryota Nozaki(Jazztronik) has just launched a new project called “Musilogue”.Musilogue is a cultural music project by musicians who are active in many music scenes. At the moment 60 musicians are already involved in Musilogue.We believe professional musicians are artists and artisans .We can create new kinds of high quality music through our collaboration.To record this music and to introduce a new style of working for musicians is Musilogue’s biggest theme.On the other hand Musilogue has a plan to start teaching music to people who want to enjoy music more and also to become professional.Musilogue has released its 1st album “Elephant and a barbar” by Bass player Ichiro Fujiya and Sax player Takeshi Kurihara.This album was originally made for selling at venues where they would play.Due to popular demand Musilogue decided to release it more widely.Ichiro Fujiya is an amazing bass player who has supported Jazztronik for 10 years and also other Japanese pop music artists.Takeshi Kurihara started off in the underground scene and since then he has supported many artists like Soil&pimp sessions,Kyoto Jazz Sextet and Jazztronik.Ryota Nozaki(Jazztronik) plays piano and Rhodes and has composed 2 tunes (8)(9) on this album.Effective guitar is played by Arata Inoue who is active in the underground music scene in Tokyo.Musilogue has chosen young creator Ryo Kawahara as a remixer for a bonus track.“Elephant and a barbar” is their own style of New Jazz with a deep and sometimes ambient feeling across the album.This is an album where you can feel the progress of Music.https://soundcloud.com/jazztronik/fujiwara-digest
