Global Warming

Here at Bearfunk we have been pretty busy as of late... it was a casual visit to Geneva just like any other. We had just finished a buzzing set and soon after we found ourselves talking to a five bearded academic types. It turns out they were a bunch of theoretical physicists out on a cosmologists night out. They work them hard at CERN and that day the Large Hadron Collector had been a real beast... rebooting five times before lunch. They were pissed off and needed a new challenge. We offered them a job on the spot and they promptly moved to our London HQ working on a wage of tea, vinyl and Nandos. We set them a challenge... Build us a time machine! They started soaking up all those Bearfunk-groove-boson particles and..., you know what? They did it!! A Time machine of our own.Our first task, jump back in time to 1985 and retrieve us something really cool. Set controls to the Manhattan office to Celluloid Records. Fresh from their hit with Herbie Hancocks "Rockit", spearheading rap with Fab Five Freddys "Change The Beat" and Afrika Bambata stompers the legendary label is preparing to release the debut album from NYC-Paris emigre Lord Funk. The album is prepped and ready to go with a release date. It's a cornucopia of mid 80s sounds. Disco, Hip Hop, Rare Groove, Deep Boogie and foot-tapping funk. We manage to hijack a shipment of the records on the way from the plant to the record distributors and bring them back to 2016. We are ecstatic but Celluloid Records are furious. Celluloid never gets to release the record and its existence slips into music legend. We however find ourselves in the 2016 future sitting on a stack of LPs which represent one cool sound from 1985. Surely just what time machines were invented for.Alas this story doesn't have a happy ending. As we were beaming the last batch of master tapes... the ones containing the Larry Levan remix of Bad Day and the Jean-Michel Basquiat artwork for the album sleeve... things went terribly wrong. A stray chicken bone fell into the spacetime-continuum-field-generator and our beloved time machine imploded, never to be seen again. The remaining mixes and artwork were lost too. However it's not all bad as we at least had the batch of vinyl of the Global Warming LPs. Which we proudly present you, new sleeve and all, for sale in 2016.https://soundcloud.com/lord-funk/global-warming-teazzza-lord

Tuff Cut 05

photo:
a propos:
The Late Nite Tuff Guy gets in on the action once again with this triple gripper of edit goodness. Those with a perfunctory grasp of disco knowledge will probably guess that the title cut from this Make Me Feel 12" takes it's cue form the classic disco track by Sylvester and in the hands of the Tuff one we have a beefed up rendition that will service any self respecting discotheque dancefloor perfectly. "Love To Love" eases down the tempo and turns up the heat as LNTG brings his Midas Touch to the Donna Summer standard, whilst "He's Mine" is a nice little muscled up tweak on the Brandy and Monica classic.

Ahh!

BACK IN STOCK !!! Big release here for the Kolour Limited series who've scooped up three feel good house cuts from NDATL Music boss Kai Alice. Based around a self explanatory vocal motif "Ahh!" is the sort of euphoric house track you can drop mid set and stand back and watch as a sea of arms are raised in response. The deft track titling continues apace on "Be-Bop" where skat vocals are the perfect accompaniment to the deep chord progressions and metallic percussion, whilst the B Side plays host to just the one track in "Spring (KZR main)" where Alce gets funkier than a mosquito's tweeter thanks to some psychedelic guitar licks, chiming pads and refined 909 sequencing.

Ene Nyame A Mensuro (Henrik Schwarz Mixes)

photo:
a propos:
A rare original from 1978, Ebo Taylor and Pat Thomas’ ‘Ene Nyame ‘A’ Mensuro’ is a yearning hidden classic of Ghanaian highlife / Afrobeat. Created originally as a DJ tool for his sets, Henrik Schwarz’ remix transforms the track into a late night dancefloor gem, adding a liquid bassline, pulsing 4/4 beats and dub sections to devastating effect. One of Schwarz’ finest remixes of recent years.

WOLFEP033

auteur:

a propos:
Early last year we played at the small but perfectly formed, Oma Doris club in Dortmund. One of the residents that night was a young DJ by the name of Mr Fries, who during the night handed us a CD of demos.Immediately impressed with what we heard, the idea of an EP was formed. Nearly a year later we are proud to present the newest member of the pack!First up on remix duties is Hodini whose recent EP on Max Graef and Glenn Astro, Money $ex Records has been on constant rotation since it's release.Hodini is an alias of prolific German Hip-Hop producer, Hulk Hodn and a major influence on Mr Fries who has sighted he was one of reason he was one of the main reasons he started to make beats. To round of the EP we've enrolled long time friend Garth BE. The artist featured previously on WOLFEP003 back in 2009 with All The Thrills. Since then he has setup the fantastic Sweet Sticky Records, releasing two full length LPs to great acclaim.

Accellerate

photo:
a propos:
London - based Axe On Wax starts its 2016 with a special package including 2 original tracks from Chicago's legends Boo Williams and Jordan Fields, backed up with remixes from Detroit's maestro Andres and Steve Murphy. The London based imprint is slowly building a reputation for putting out high quality House music, strictly groovy, strictly made for vinyl lovers. Label honcho Fede LNG has put together a list of producers and remixers that could easily get any club sold out: Iron Curtis, Liam Geddess, Stefano Esposito, Oli Furness, Chaos In The CBD just to name a few.The next instalment on the label is another four tracker on wax this time featuring true monster of unconditionally straight House Music: Chicagos' legend Boo Williams and Rawax and Underground Trax usual suspect Jordan Fields. On the remix duties we can also find Mahogani's own Andres and Italy's pride Steve Murphy. The latest AOW releases includes 4 tracks which are a miscellaneous of grooves, warm pads, rough drums forged to make damages on the dance floor. The A1 sees Chicago's House lord Boo Williams breaking the tempo and creates a delicate but magical atmosphere while remixing Andre's original: that baseline won't leave your mind easily…. On the remix duties Andres delivers pure love. The Motor City's producer mixes his ability with creating uplifting melodies and perfectly uses them onto a straight unstoppable rhythmical session. On the flipside Jordan Fields makes the listener loosing themselves with intricate loops driven by its relentless groove and always on point synth lines. Steve Murphy delivers a version which has his name written all over: raw in your face drums - stomping, elevating, low - fi. Pure Techno poetry.Boiler Room premiered the Andres Remix https://soundcloud.com/platform/boo-williams-accelerate-andres-remix-boiler-room-debuts

Never Stop Workin EP

photo:
a propos:
Whiskey Disco #44 joins the ranks of two label vets, Pontchartrain and The Silver Rider. Both have turned in top-selling recent successes on labels like Lovedancing, Smokecloud Records, Street Edits and of course their respective appearances on Whiskey Disco.Pontchartrain leads the A-side with heavy vocal, percussion and samples with a healthy side of dub.His quality mixing matched with meticulously programmed sampling are up to his usual high standards of work…Mystery man, The Silver Rider adds some sexual tension to the flip in the form of Muzik and Never Stop.....Two songs steeped in tender loving care.....
