Key Lime EP

If the artworks anything to go by, D'Arabia's first outing on House of Disco is the sonic embodiment of a blissful, free-spirited, parallel universe where the claws of bleak modern big city living are a world away.Carefree in it's groove, 'Key Lime' let's a vibrant sax loose over the top of a killer bassline and fizzing hi hats. Throw in some hazy jazz samples and it's summertime smoothness of the highest calibre.Three of the best in the bizz then step up to add their own reinterpretation to D'Arabia's jam. First, Patchworks sets the sun on the lakeside party, focusing the remix around those jazzy keys and predominantly looping the sax but allowing for flurries of brilliance when the time is right.Ron Basejam does, what Ron Basejam does best, stripping back the elements for the intro, building the percussion, sax and bass alongside a looped guitar and keys for over 2 minutes until the kick comes in to set out it's stall as a serious modern boogie ripper.COEO closes out the e.p. steering everyone into the club and pushing the tempo, adding some dreamy pads, a harder hitting beat and honing in on those vocal samples. Hot stuff from the HOD crew once again!

Talkin Bout Life EP

auteur:

a propos:
House of Disco return with a pair of funk fuelled cuts from Aroop Roy with Japan's Brisa contributing a deep and percussive remix. Based in London, Aroop Roy's take on electronic music involves blending elements of jazz, Afro, Latin and funk with disco and house. Roy's releases have landed on Freestyle, Gamm and Basic Fingers, and most recently on the hugely successful Kampana Classics EP.His multi-genre spanning influences can be attributed to his wealthy experience playing around the globe, including previous residencies in London, Geneva and Tokyo. Renowned taste makers Gilles Peterson, Francois K, Karizma and Rainer Trueby are only a few names from a swelling list of supporters and their seal of approval is a clear testament to his studio abilities.‘Talkin Bout Life' demonstrates Roy in fine form as it subtly builds into an essential party anthem. Jazzy keys, a soulful guitar lick and a dusty breakbeat are brought together by a warm and punchy low end to form an irresistible groove. This sets the scene for a breakdown of epic proportions, with raw vocals looping hypnotically to a huge climax.‘We Together' shows Roy's deeper side, pairing chunky, overdriven percussion with subterranean chords, whilst an infectious vocal operates on top. A warm analog synth ups the ante with an extra portion of funk.Hailing from Fukuoka, Brisa concludes the package by completely reimagining 'Talkin Bout Life'. Rumbling drums, twisted bass and otherworldly stabs together forge a jazzy remix with an abundance of character and originality.

Burnin' EP

auteur:

a propos:
Berlin-based duo Snacks drop an infectious four tracker on House Of Disco this October.Forming Snacks in 2014, New Zealand's Rene Corbett and Germany's Aljoscha Babel have been joining the dots between funk-fuelled disco and sultry house with releases landing on Pusic Records, Boogie Angst, hafendisko and Mule Musiq. As DJs they've been transforming dancefloors into all out bedlam with their upbeat and eclectic performances, whilst their party-focused productions have found a home in the record crates of Ben UFO, Detroit Swindle, Prosumer and Beats In Space's Tim Sweeney.‘Burnin' inaugurates the package by dropping a laidback drum rhythm, piercing chords and soulful vocal loops topped with a fuzzy bassline. 'Matinee' then takes things into deeper territories with organic percussion, blissful synth swells and uplifting choral patterns, before 'Deep Fry' generates a compelling groove with smooth bass licks and rich string harmonies. In demand Dutch duo Fouk, who've appeared on HOD as well as Razor-N-Tape and Heist, deliver an offbeat take on 'Deep Fry' with delicate melodies, opulent pads and cosmic nuances resonating throughout.
