Widely revered French DJ and producer, Thomas Arroyo aka Laroye has released music exploring a variety of different genres from broken beat on the early days of MCDE and Faces Records, through to funk and boogie with QWESTLIFE on Midnight Riot, Black Riot and ISM Records and beyond. His creativity extends to a number of side projects, like Soul Rüma (with Andre Espeut) and experimental modular jams and atmospheric blues with his own project The Tom Laroye Experiment.His next release on Tiff's Joints has already received the seal of approval from the likes of Laurent Garnier, Alexander Nut, Volcov and more. The A1, 'Colombia 26a', sets pace for the release with heavy Afro-Latin percussion, a thick bassline and the type of dexterous musicality the label is steadily becoming known for. 'The Trickster' is built around an infectiously squelchy keys part, bolstered by a bouncing bassline, the track culminates in a soaring lead melody and ridiculous synth solo. 'Espiritú' is more downtempo and spacey. Kicking off with a relentlessly driving and hypnotic polyrhythm, and complete with an uplifting choral arrangement, seriously trippy lapsteel guitar (?!) and a mysterious guiding voice.

South Londons Henry Wu makes his HoTep debut with the Negotiate Ep, his most comprehensive release to date.Spanning five cuts the Ep journeys through loose soulful grooves, dusty fingered beats and bumpy analog house. Bringing that redlight, basementality throughout, title track 'Just Negotiate' featuring Simeon Jones on vocals moves above street level, adding bitter sweet dancefloor/radio vibes to proceedings.On the whole.... Some abstract jazz type sh*t!

Krewcial is back on WPH after some seriously funky adventures on Marcel Vogel’s fine Lumberjacks In Hell label. We wanted to finish our 10” series in style and it’s safe to say that krewcial provided the goods. On the A-side ‘Plaster’ brings us raw vocal piano house of the highest order and a sure-fire hands in the air moment on any discerning dance floor.On the flip ‘Proto’ is what proto says: raw house business for more Theo Parrish or Ron Hardy styled slam dancing damage. Since his house debut on WPH krewcial has been going from strength to strength and with this E.P. he shows no signs of slowing down.

Left Ear are issuing two previously unreleased Full-Length versions of Space Farm’s mid 90’s Egyptian inspired tracks. Both, ‘The Dawn of Birds’ and ‘Camels in Desert Air’ were initially cut short to allow for additional remixes on the original release. For their 2019 issue, Left Ear have decided to focus only on these downtempo original songs allowing the heavy percussion and synth workouts to shine through on a loud 45RPM press.Space Farm is the story of three friends Darrin, Bill and Waleed their love for 80’s NY culture, Egyptian music and a cross continental business plan that never materialised. Darrin and Bill grew up in North New Jersey only a few miles from NY city and met while studying in ’90. Bill spent his formative years listening to the emerging sounds of 80’s left-leaning New York radio stations, while Darrin immersed himself in the DJ and B-Boy culture. Fast-forward to ’94 and the two found themselves living in Boulder, Colorado. By this time the tag-team had started producing music and would look to their NJ roots for a group name, deciding on the title ‘Space Farm’ after a kooky local petting farm they often cracked jokes about. Armed with an open mind and a bunch of old studio gear the duo began producing music inspired by 80’s NY, however after a budding friendship began with Egyptian native Waleed they were inspired to start experimenting with Egyptian and Arabic sounds. After hearing their output Waleed pushed for the release of an Egyptian inspired record saying “it would sell like crazy in Egypt”, that “he would bring it back to Egypt on his next visit and get it to all the right people that need to hear it”. The record got done but, due to circumstances beyond their control it never made it over to Egypt. The duo performed live a few times in Boulder before finally returning to NJ. Darrin recalls playing their final party in Boulder in which the Space Farm record was played from start to finish, “Some joker ran up to us while we were playing and kept signalling to up the tempo we were like F Off! raver boy”.
