They already released 3 ep on Musique Large label and did remixes for Laurent Garnier or Jacaranda Muse, and produced some beats for french rapper Rocé or Coeff.Half studio-rats, half live voodoos, the duet makes a music which did not choose beween to dream and dance, explore and relax.A new direction for Baron Rétif & Concepción Perez as their trademark minimal funk flow and singular cosmic hip-hop, is mixed with future dub...Instead of many beatmakers, their music is playing live, Baron Retif on drums and sequences and Concepcion Perez on the keyboards.They mix in their music their large musical influences from root reggae to modern beats, infused with soul and jazz.

Over the past years the Leipzig native made a name for himself with releases on his lovely own Rose Records imprint and esteemed labels like Tsuba and FOTO. If you're partial to carefully arranged, classy piano-led deep house business, his new 'Part of Me EP' should tickle your pickle.Lead track 'In My Arms' is a bottom-heavy mid-tempo burner with a driving piano melody and yearning vocals that slowly works towards a breakdown of monumental proportions.'Balance on a Beam' on the flip is a slightly beefier affair, blending tight tambourine-like snares, sultry male vocals and chunky hiphop-ish sampling style with Luvless' moody synth lines and crisp drums. Closing track 'A Precious Kind of Love' offers more trademark Luvless deepness, nicely rounding off the package with its spaced out beats, glittery percussion and more cut-up samples.As always, this is a limited, vinyl only release. It will not be repressed and will not be released digitally. Not now, not ever.

In terms of making an impressive head turning debut, few can top Dan Shake. With his bow on Mahogani, the London-based producer becomes the first artist to release on Kenny Dixon Jnr's iconic label with no prior affiliation to Detroit. The story goes that whilst in attendance at last year's Dimensions festival, Shake handed KDJ a CDr filled with his productions and soon after found himself signed up for release on the man's label! As you'd expect Dan Shake fits right in on the label with this pair of simmering motor city heaters with the lead track "3 AM Jazz Club" coming across like a sharper Dani Plessow production.

Breathtaking Contemporary Spiritual Jazz from South Africa ... When Tumi Mogorosi composed this suite for jazz musicians and opera vocalists he had never heard the previous successful attempts by Donald Byrd, Max Roach or Mary Lou Williams to combine these seemingly 'unfriendly'aesthetics. Tumi, born in 1987 and already an accomplished drummer on the Jo'Burg scene, was at the time studying music at the Tshwane University of Pretoria where he became close friends with opera singers working on the same campus. So unlike some of his US peers Tumi's beliefs are not 'religious'.Surprisingly, Tumi's suite wasn't influenced by these great elders' masterpieces, but anyone who listens to this album will agree that the suite encaptures the soaring spirituality that made these experiments of the '60s the beloved classics that they are today. Tumi does not belong to any religious group. This album is neither a jazz mass like Mary Lou William's Black Christ of the Andes, nor a compilation of devotional pieces like Donald Byrd's Christo Redentor. Project Elo stands for Project Elohim, the angelic entities of the spiritual scriptures which are in the drummer's philosophy, a symbol for accomplished human beings. The spirituality the album conveys is attuned to a 21st century syncretic, non dogmatic vision infused with esotericism. Recorded live with no overdubs in two days by a group of friends, this album captures a moment of Eternity and will defy any idea you may have of what South African jazz is. Tumi's music transcends labels and styles. When composing or playing he is only concerned with being true to the primodial source of life, which cannot be confined to any genre.
