While clearly talented on the mic, Phillip Wright was much more successful as a producer and songwriter (chiefly for his sister Betty Wright) than he was a solo artist. His sole single from 1976 first enjoyed fresh exposure 10 years ago on Kenny Dope's edit label Kay-Dee but has now returned complete with an instrumental version and a never-before-released extended version. Whichever one you drop, reactions are guaranteed: straight up horn led funk with just a sprinkling of post production disco magic, fans of Cymande or Average White Band will be all over this.

Taken from his debut album, released in 1976, Italian composer legend Presti's rawest funk roots are explored and celebrated to great effect right here. "Funky Bump" lives up to its name beautifully with very neat organ stabs and a relentless groove that's not dissimilar to Grace Jones' "Pull Up To The Bumper". Looking for a much dreamier, dewy eyed jam? Flip for the lavish whirls and swirls of "C. So Buenos Aires"... It couldn't be more 1976 (or Italian) if it tried.

The most straight up soul joint from the album, it's an instant sweat-fest with real guts behind both the vocals and instrumentation. Flip for the jazz funk whirlwind that is "Getting Down". Amsterdam native Mr Mendel continues to churn out top notch edits at a steady pace in between crate digging and gigs around the world.This second 12" for Basic Fingers is a welcome follow up to his previous release which featured Fela & Gil.On release no.28 he's dug even deeper than last time and found not one, two or three but four absolute killer songs to take his razor sharp blade to.No messing around, Mr Mendel aims straight for the top with these joyful disco cuts.

For the sixth release on People Must Jam, we headed to Poland to find two very special guys that make up Ptaki. 180g Vinyl - Strictly limited.Ptaki have been making ripples around the world for their unique approach to putting together a record or two and having just recently dropped their album Przelot those ripples have turned to waves. We are proud to announce their new record - Antypody that will possibly turn those waves tidal!Ptaki have delivered a wonderful varied EP with four different cuts.Kicking off with the crazy uptempo Hi-NRG disco cut Milosc after which the record moves into the more gorgeous Balearic territory of Termy. This blew us all away when we first heard it.On the flip Lotnik showcases some solid house roots before the EP ending on the porn sampling and rather brilliant Radio Roman.We are really stoked to have these boys on board for what we feel is going to be a very sought after record.

Mr Mendel's disco credentials have been growing steadily in stature over the last few years. Here the Dutch boogieman drops two killer jams for the Disco Deviance imprint.Both demonstrate his clean and tidy approach to editing which focuses on the quality of the original source material and a delicate desire to enhance and ease only the very best out of the music he loves so much. As such he owes much to his Chicago mentor and good friend Rahaan whose influence and sound can be detected in these reworks.This is of course a good thing. Enjoy the music! Mr Mendel does.
