Sortilegio

a propos:
“Sortilegio”literally means ‘spell’ and was shot in Italy between 1969 and 1970. One of the most mysterious movies that came out from the golden age of Italian cinema, its soundtrack was recorded in 1974.The movie had never been officially distributed and probably had never reached the final stage of post-production. The film is lost, gone forever apparently.Four Flies Records’ researchers had been able to locate the original master tapes of the soundtrack, which had been re-mastered and is going to be released as a deluxe limited edition 180gr LP, with extensive liner notes signed by composer Silvano D'Auria and film critic Davide Pulici (Nocturno Cinema)Originally recorded in Rome at the famous RCA Studios, the soundtrack casts a fine blend of jazz-funk and prog-rock elements. One of the most mysterious movies of the golden age of Italian cinema, “Sortilegio” is a visionary horror movie directed by Nardo Bonomi, starring Erna Schurer and the famous Italian director Marco Ferreri as a co-star. The movie also featured Corrado Farina (director of the legendary “Baba Yaga”) as assistant director. As the influential Italian magazine Nocturno Cinema stated some time ago, the movie had never been distributed and is to be considered definitively lost. Thanks to Four Flies Records’ meticulous research, at least the soundtrack of the movie survives: the original master tapes have been finally recovered and restored, thus to be released for the very first time.Recorded in Rome at the famous RCA Studios, “Sortilegio” is a dark and esoteric soundtrack composed by Silvano D’Auria. The soundtrack casts a fine blend of jazz-funk and prog-rock elements, and features some of the greatest session musicians of those times, like Silvano Chimenti (his fuzzy guitars are unmistakable).Four Flies Records has been on the radar of collectors and connoisseurs of soundtracks and library music from its inception last year. With the release of highly sought-after titles such as “Fantabulous” by Sandro Brugnolini, “La Poliziotta” by Gianni Ferrio and the compilations “Esterno Notte” and “Esterno Giorno”, which featured rare tracks from the RCA archives, Four Flies has immediately stood out for the quality of its reissues. Sumptuos deluxe limited 180 gr. editions, Four Flies’ works are accompanied by precious liner-notes and are enriched by archival images, original artwork and lettering designed by Luca Barcellona.

P.D.D are extremely excited to welcome legendary Italian label Tenax Recordings to our ever expanding label roaster ready for the next chapter of their long rich history.Frontman and resident DJ Alex Neri is back for the 64th release presenting his 'Anniversary EP' to celebrate 35 years of the infamous club in Florence.Alex wanted to celebrate his personal influences and devotion to the roots of house music touching on several aspects that influenced his career over the years with the first track All around. The release is a strong mix between raw old sounds and classic house touches all with his trademark pumping basslines and classic house vibes. The second track on the A side is a remix of All Around by well-known artist Kevin Knapp (Hot Creations, Mother Recordings, VIVa Music). The B Side kicks off with Ruffness a hypnotic dirty groove, perfect for those moments of hysteria early in the morning on the dancefloor.Rounding off the EP is Rebel, based around a synthesizer sample it takes you back to the past thanks to the live structure in the way it was recorded with no added FX.Pressed on 180g Vinyl

a propos:
First official reissue ever for this Italian holy-grail soundtrack, finally back to life in a long-waited 180gr. limited edition, supervised by M° Giuliano Sorgini himself, who also wrote his personal liner notes. Remastered from the original master tapes that were preserved for more than 40 years in almost perfect shape, ZOO FOLLE is a highly sought after psych-funk album, a true masterpiece for all breaks-beat lovers, full of rhythmic percussion, acid flute, synth work, dark electronics, drum machines, and crazy hand-claps. The score was composed for an Italian TV movie in 1974, directed by Riccardo Fellini (brother of the most well-known Federico), and originally released on Ricordi Label in the same year. Featuring Edda Dell’Orso and some of the best and leading Italian session players in the soundtrack and library landscape, such as Maurizio Majorana and Antonello Vannucchi (from I MARC 4), Nino Rapicavoli on flute, and Giuliano Sorgini himself on organ, keyboards, piano, drums, and percussion.

Golden Queen (RSD 2016)

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
With their next carefully curated release, the Opilec Music label begins to shine a light on the roots of Italo with the reissue of an ultra rare and obscure synth Italo disco track by A. Avenue from 1984.This is a special Record Store Day 2016 release and of course, Opilec Music has remastered the original vocal and instrumental versions and here include I-Robots reconstructions and two Flemming Dalum's reworks. This is a track many labels wanted, but only Opilec Music have been granted official rights to this cult re-release. Originally released on Discover Records, this is the only EPA. Avenue (aka Dario Ancona and F. Feleppa) ever put out and it now fetches high prices on Discogs. Once you hear the music, you can understand why: The lovably naive and innocent vocal version is seven minutes of cosmic and psychedelic grooves with perfectly retro melodies and pixelated chords that take you into outer space.Mid tempo drums are full of funk and drive and the two part vocal—one crisp and clean, one filtered and dehumanised—really lend the whole thing a special robot feel that is second to none. As well as a stripped back instrumental, there is a fine I-Robots Reconstruction that is quicker and more driving. The vocals are also more prominent, soaring up top above reflective synths and rainy xylophone style melodies. It is a real Italo disco gem that is followed by a spacious and tripped out version from Danish DJ and producer Flemming Dalum, who has been devoted to Italo all his life and works with labels like Mothball, Bordello A Parigi and Disco Modernism. He also layers in more cowbells, punchy drums and claps that refresh it for a modern club, and buy the EP digitally and you will get a second Dalum edit that is the deepest of the lot - 100% true to the original. This reissue will make many record collectors and Italo disco fans truly happy, and is just the start of some brilliant new projects to come.

Fantabulous

photo:
a propos:
Limited Edition 500 copies Originally released on BEAT LP 002 (1968)!First complete 180gr. reissue of the unobtainable BEAT LP 002!Extensive liner notes written and signed by Maestro Sandro Brugnolini himself!Includes a bonus 7’’ 45 rpm single with two tracks performed by Gepy!Remastered from the original quarter inch reels with the full co-operation of Brugnolini himself! After Gli Arcangeli, but before Gungala and L’uomo dagli occhiali a specchio, italian Master Sandro Brugnolini composed the soundtrack for Fantabulous, a stunning pop movie inspired by the world of comics, superheroes and secret agents, directed by Sergio Spina in 1967. The music is a mixture of jazz, mod sounds and psych-beat, where Brugnolini adapts his jazz leanings to the new musical fashions of the day: soul, R&B and psychedelia. This soundtrack was from ever almost officially out of print, languishing up to now in the deepest reaches of obscurity, much sought-after both for the elusive BEAT Records 7”, published at the time to promote the two songs in the film, but even more so for the original LP, a real ghost-album which never appeared anywhere or anytime. The Four Flies issue for the first time reconstructs this incredible soundtrack in its entirety, thanks to a meticulous restoration work obtained from two different master tapes kept in the personal archives of Brugnolini himself and BEAT Records. Also included is the 7” with two alternative mix (never before published anywhere) of the tracks performed by Gepy: a real treat for soul and R&B DJs all over the world.https://soundcloud.com/fourfliesrecords/sandro-brugnolini-fantabulous
