Hand-stamped 12" repressThis 12" marks the first release in German label Lehult's Lehultsub series of hand-stamped, limited-edition releases. It boasts contributions from two of Lehult's founding fathers, Liem and Lucky Charmz. The former impresses from the off, layering drowsy electronic piano chords and bluesy vocal samples atop a crunchy, kick-driven groove. It's a fairly simple concoction in the grand scheme of things, but quietly soulful and undeniably dancefloor-friendly. Lucky Charmz flip the script slightly on the B, with their "Buy Urself A Friend" delivering a quick dose of filter-heavy, soul-sampling disco house that gets just the right balance between low-end heaviness and loopy dancefloor abandon.

Give'n'Take

photo:
a propos:
BACK IN STOCK !!!Give'n'Take is a new series on Uncanny Valley that focuses on favourite and like-minded producers from some of our core artists. For the start, Cuthead picked Max Graef, S3A and Moony Me and also contributed two tracks to the EP himself. Berlin's wunderkind Max Graef hands in "Tittenkuschler", a slow burner that will find a home on heartfelt dancefloors and sofas alike. Cuthead's follows up with a punchy house affair called "Braziliance" and the super-relaxing Hip-Hop-cut "Oef Oef". On the flipside we have S3A from Paris with the discoid "Theuz Hamtaak". He takes no prisoners with extensive sampling and an up and down bouncing arrangement. "Magergarten" from Vienna's Moony Me runs in the same vein with its string-heavy break and powerfull drumming. For the visual component Uncanny Valley asked Lucas Hunter aka Luca Lozano aka Luke to create one of his oldschool-praising artworks.

Two ultra fat slow house jamz outta Detroit by the man now better known as Ibex (Planet E). His legendary release from 1997 comes around with fresh mastering - special thanks to Mr. Terrence Parker! His stuff from this period is actually better than his Planet E releases smpling Detroit classics like Was Not Was etc. Classic Detroit house, which goes perfectly with Moodymann & Theo Parrish stuff. Super Tip!

Rojus : Designed To Dance

photo:
a propos:
Two years ago I played at Studio 9 in Vilnius, Lithuania. The following day I missed my flight home and ended up spending an extra day, which gave me a chance to explore the city with my friend Linus, who took me to the Contemporary Art Centre. It was there I spotted a book named 'Rojus', that Linus told me translated as 'Paradise'. The word and striking cover of the book stuck in my mind. A few days after returning home, I turned on to a National Geographic documentary named 'Designed To Dance', explaining the courtship rituals of Birds Of Paradise. As I watched, i jokingly began drawing similarities between these birds' attempts to captivate and impress the opposite sex with dance, and the way strangers try to attract one another in clubs and interact on the dance floor. This gave me the idea of creating a record of functional club music, sequenced as if it were a club night, from doors to closing, using samples of these Birds Of Paradise and their habitat. Thus, Rojus. Leon Vynehall 2016

Remixed With Love Vol Two Part B

auteur:

photo:
a propos:
Classic Disco Reworked From Original Multi-Track Tapes! 2015 was another great year for Z Records, a year that saw the release of the new artist album from Opolopo, the Joey Negro compiled Le Freak - a tribute to the sound of Chic, 90’s House & Garage and the long awaited Supafunkanova Vol.2 alongside Sean P.Z Records is starting 2016 in similarly strong fashion with the follow up to Remixed With Love. It's been over two years since the first instalment which topped many sales charts on its release so now the remixes that made up that album have been heard on house and disco dancefloors around the world ever since, it's time for Volume 2. So allow us to present 20 more reworkings of classic soul, funk, disco and boogie tracks from the likes of Grace Jones, Robert Palmer, Cheryl Lynn, The O'Jays, Gwen McCrae, George Benson and many more. Admittedly, we live in a world where remixes and edits of vintage dancefloor anthems aren't exactly hard to come by, in the same way that grains of sand aren't hard to come by on a beach. But where Soundcloud, Beatport et al heave under the weight of a gazillion bootleg offerings, many taking a dusty, scratched old 12-inch or a dodgy MP3 as their starting point, Remixed With Love is a little different. Not only is the man with one of the most legendary record collections in the game guaranteed to dig deeper than most, every track you hear has been (re)created using spanking new analogue transfers of the original multi-track tapes, with the full consent and co-operation of the copyright owners. Which means not only are you getting the best possible sound quality, the creators of the original tracks are getting paid too – as they damn well should be. These multi track tapes also uncovered elements that were not used in the original mixes so Joey has incorporated some of these never before heard parts such as the Grace Jones aerobic workout instruction. Putting an album like this together is no easy feat, as Dave himself explains in the extensive liner notes that accompany this package. First, you have to get permission from the copyright owners to undertake the project at all – which can in itself entail hundreds of emails and phone calls. Then you have to track down the original tapes – when many may have been recorded over, lost or simply destroyed – and convince the label archivists to get them digitised. And that's before you even start on the remixing… which is when you find half the parts are missing, or you can't foreground that killer piano lick you wanted to because the original was recorded live in the studio and the piano track has the bassline bleeding all over it. The title of this album is extremely appropriate, because for Mr Lee this definitely has been a labour of love!

Disco Halal Brazil

photo:
a propos:
Lime Marbled Vinyl 12" This offering by Berlin-based, world-influenced label Disco Halal presents three tracks that result from the collaboration between the Brazilian DJs and producers Selvagem and Carrot Green (who combine releases on BIS Inc, Universal Cave, Hello Sailor, Barefoot Beats, Brazilian Shakedown and Magic Movement).Exploring local melodies from the 60's and 70's, they built tracks that turn those sounds into some sort of exotic Techno beasts, only with that tropical flavour. The A-side brings Vandre, a throbbing 126bpm track carried by a lovely guitar and singalong vocals by one of Brazil's most iconic protest singers. The package is complete with the remix by the ever growing Italian duo Marvin & Guy, who kept the hypnotic aura with their lush minimal sounds. This black magic blessed EP continues on the flip with Dengo, a slow burner based on a candomble chant that, along with the flute, cowbell, and clapping, puts the audience into a spell. Finally Ossain's killer strings, psyched-out vocals and percussive breakdowns wrap up this South American addition to the Disco Halal familyOne limited vinyl press only!
