London soulful house label Makin' Moves (brought to you by Matt Langrish-Smith & DJ Jamesey) bring the heat once again with these awesome remixes of The Foreign Exchange: an internet-spawned collaboration between Dutch producer Nicolay and US rapper/singer Phonte Coleman from Little Brother. "Body" is taken from their recent album Tales From The Land Of Milk & Honey and it is a wonderful slice of modern soul that calls to mind the work of Kaidi Tatham or Vikter Duplaix. The remixes on here work that extra bit of magic though and who better than NYC's finest DJ Spinna to deliver the goods on his deep and emotive remix. His second offering, the "Ride It Out dub" dives even deeper and does exactly what it says on the tin on this version, aimed squarely at late night dancefloors.

REPRESS !!!Melbourne synthesist Harvey Sutherland brings four stripped-back rhythm tracks to Echovolt Records for his debut 12”. Features a long edit of 'Q3' from last year’s limited cassette release, plus three new original cuts. Developed and refined from Sutherland’s improvised live show, the 'Edges E.P.' glides between the sparse melodic funk on ‘Sunday Flower’ to the tightly-wound house shuffle of ‘Speaking Your Language’. The title track rounds out the B-side - a long rollicking hardware jam, all Juno brass and marching band snares.

Following a 12" from Shedbug, Flux Records rolls around for a second helping with assistance from rising French producer Laroze. The young artist wears his influences on his sleeve, channeling the spirit of all eras of the Motor City into his soul-soaked tracks, not least on first track "Good Inside." "Loin Des Yeux" is a more contemporary house jam with woozy pads and samples aplenty from the Think break upwards. "Acid Devotion" meanwhile takes a break from Detroit to whip up a 303-laced storm, and then Andres comes on board to drop some authentic Midwestern charm over "Loin Des Yeux".

Tonbe branches out from his Disco Fruit label to launch Hellcat Tunes with the instant heat of the Trade Off EP. "Ain't Nuthin' To It" is a perfect slice of disco house with all the right ingredients to set the dance alight, and likewise you'd be hard pressed to not start vibing off the dulcet tones of "Bon Dapp". "Sunday's Calling", as the name might suggest, takes a more laconic approach that feeds in a whisper of dub house influence and lots of beautifully filtered guitar. "Trade Off" then amps up the tempo and the horns for a peppy workout that bridges the gap between the lounge and dancefloor perfectly.
